The stage was set for the final stop of the international RWTP tour on 8/17 with RWTP Beaver Creek taking place in Roermond Netherlands. With Claudia Pagnini, Matty Muncey and Rudy Tallboys all in attendance, plus our first jam contest – Jam With The Pros, we knew we were in for a killer few days.
Our trip began with a visit to Hamm wakepark while we waited for Claudia’s flight to arrive later that day. We were met by Roman the park manger who was super stoked to show us around and have some fun on the cable. Rudy wasn’t phased by the early morning start and straight out on the water getting everyone stoked. After some meet and greets, doubles on the cable and a boat load of high 5’s, we headed over to Roermond ready for the next day.
After some delayed flights Claudia joined us the next day with a little help from David Vervenne (thanks David!). We arrived at the cable with the usual high energy greeting from Hannes the owner at Beaver Creek an crew. We were stoked to make the most of the day and the awesome weather we had scored. We had BC cable operator Ripley help us keep the stoke levels high and organising everyone on the mic. Plus Ripleys brother providing the soundtrack of the event with his decks setup on the dock.
The event kicked off with some slow speed sessions and the team getting the beginners technique on point with some coaching on the dock. The event was busy and the vibes high with pretty much all of our LF demo boards out on the water when . . . . disaster strikes! The cable goes down with a problem with the drive tower! In any normal situation this is a problem, but not for Hannes and the BC crew! The immediately jumped into action and recognised the issue, calling Henry Dollenberg in to help us get back up and running quickly. With the DJ and team entertaining everyone and keeping the stoke levels up, no one even noticed the delay and we made sure to run the event into the night to make the most of it. Plus some tower jumping from the team, making the most of the downtime proved a fun distraction.
Once we were back up and running everyone was out on the water and loving the session. With the cable now running normal speed everyone was keen to make thee most of the hack the beaver creek guys had setup for us. The Unit street series flat down flat was hacked up with the bank rail, offering rail to rail, inside to out and for the brave, outside to in rail to rail possibilities. Matty, Rudy and Claudia were out on the water riding doubles with everyone and giving some coaching while the locals practiced on the hack ahead of the jam comp that evening.
Just before the Jam the athletes put on a rider demo, showing what was really possible on the hack with pretty much every rail to rail combo going down. There was a ton of support coming from the dock where the crowd had gathered and stoking out the team to do more.
Once the riders show was done, it was the crowds turn on the water and the teams turn to judge. To finish off the RWTP international tour we held our first LF’s Jam with the Pros, solely judged on the hack and the kicker right next to the dock. This gave everyone a super close perspective, right up next to the action! The local threw down! Some notable mentions are Zoe who was boosting some rad tantrums on the kicker after some coaching from Claudia. We were stoked to give her some goodies for a solid performance on both the hack and kicker. The winner of the Jam was Tobias Farbers who was impressing all day with huge front 3 transfers from the bank tapping the end of the street series and every inside to outside and vide versa possibility going, great to watch! LF Belgium rider Wouter Gijzen took home the second spot thanks to his incredible style and deep trick list, impressing all day long. Local legend Ripley took home the final spot securing bragging rights for Beaver Creek! All this went on while the sun was setting in the distance behind, a perfect end to a rad day.
Thanks to Hannes, Sanne and Ripley at Beaver Creek for being the best hosts. Also Hannes, David and Koen for holding down the board demos and keeping everyone stoked on the dock, thank you! Big shout out to Rudy, Claudia and Matty for crushing it on and off the water and every single person in attendance.
